We invite you to the next event in the “Thursdays with Science” series — an initiative aimed at popularizing contemporary scientific research and creating a space for dialogue between researchers, students, and doctoral candidates.
The guest of this edition will be Prof. Przemko Tylżanowski, PhD, DSc (Biology) from the University of Leuven (Belgium) and the Medical University of Lublin, who will deliver a lecture titled “Fishing for Cancer. Zebrafish in a hospital.”
The talk will focus on the use of the zebrafish model (Danio rerio) in cancer research and its role in the development of modern experimental and translational oncology. Participants will learn how laboratory-level studies can translate into future clinical applications.
Prof. Przemko Tylżanowski is a biologist and researcher with many years of experience in developmental biology and biomedical research. He is a professor at KU Leuven (Belgium), where he conducts studies on tissue differentiation mechanisms and the use of animal models—particularly zebrafish—in cancer research and developmental processes.
He is also affiliated with the Medical University of Lublin, and his scientific achievements include numerous publications and participation in international research projects in developmental biology, genetics, and experimental medicine.
Prof. Tylżanowski is also a partner in the doctoral training agreement at the Doctoral School of Molecular Medicine of the Medical University of Lodz, actively supporting the development of young scientists and international educational and research collaboration.
The lecture will take place on 29 January 2026 at 12:00 PM in the BRaIn Laboratory Complex (room 0.09).
