Criteria of Mid-Term Evaluation at the Doctoral School of Molecular Medicine of the Medical University of Lodz
The mid-term evaluation is conducted on the basis of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2018, item 1668, as amended) and the Regulations of the Doctoral School of Molecular Medicine introduced by Resolution No. 13/2024 of 29 February 2024 of the Senate of the Medical University of Łódź.
1. The implementation of the Individual Research Plan (IRP) is subject to mid-term evaluation, in particular:
- implementation of the Individual Research Plan;
- quality of academic supervision provided by the supervisor or supervisors.
2. The mid-term evaluation shall be conducted halfway through the period of education specified in the curriculum, but no later than by the end of the fifth semester.
3. The basis for conducting the mid-term evaluation shall include:
- the Individual Research Plan;
- a report on the implementation of the Individual Research Plan, prepared by the doctoral student in English and endorsed by the supervisor or supervisors; the report shall be submitted in both paper and electronic form to the Mid-Term Evaluation Committee, through the Director of the Doctoral School, within the deadline specified in the schedule; the report template is provided in Appendix No. 3 to the Regulations;
- annual reports submitted by the doctoral student after the first and second years of education;
- an assessment of the quality of academic supervision provided by the supervisor or supervisors, prepared in English; the assessment template is provided in Appendix No. 4 to the Regulations;
- an evaluation interview during which the doctoral student presents their scientific achievements related to the preparation of the doctoral dissertation.
4. The schedule of the mid-term evaluation shall be established by the Director of the Doctoral School. The schedule shall be published on the University's website and made available to doctoral students.
5. Submission of the documents listed above within the deadline specified in the schedule is a prerequisite for participation in the mid-term evaluation.
6. The doctoral student's attendance at the mid-term evaluation, on the date specified in the schedule, is mandatory.
7. Failure to submit the documents required for the mid-term evaluation within the prescribed deadline, or failure to attend the mid-term evaluation on the designated date without valid justification, shall result in a negative mid-term evaluation outcome.
8. The mid-term evaluation shall be conducted by the Mid-Term Evaluation Committee, appointed by the Scientific Council of the discipline in which the doctoral dissertation is being prepared, upon the recommendation of the Director of the Doctoral School.
9. The Mid-Term Evaluation Committee shall consist of three members, including at least one person holding the degree of doktor habilitowany (habilitated doctor) or the title of professor in the discipline in which the doctoral dissertation is being prepared and employed outside the University.
10. A representative of doctoral students shall also participate in the meetings of the Mid-Term Evaluation Committee as an observer.
11. The supervisor and assistant supervisor may not serve as members of the Mid-Term Evaluation Committee.
12. The mid-term evaluation shall conclude with either a positive or a negative result. The evaluation result, together with its justification, shall be public and published on the University's website within the timeframe specified in the schedule.
13. In the event of a negative mid-term evaluation result, the doctoral student shall be removed from the list of doctoral students in accordance with the provisions set out in the Regulations.
