Doctoral Scholarship at the Doctoral School of Molecular Medicine

General information

  1. The doctoral student who is not a PhD degree holder receives a scholarship which is paid by law without the doctoral student having to submit any formal request or application.
  2. The total period of receiving a doctoral scholarship at doctoral schools cannot exceed 4 years.
  3. The period of time referred to in Point 2 does not include the education suspension period (at the request of the doctoral student, the education is suspended for the period equivalent to the duration of the maternity leave, the leave on terms of the maternity leave, paternity or parental leave, as specified in the Act of 26 June 1974 of the Labour Code)
  4. A monthly doctoral scholarship amounts to a minimum of:
    1) 37% of the professor’s salary, up to the month of a mid-term evaluation;
    2) 57% of the professor’s salary, after the month of a mid-term evaluation.
  5. During the period of suspension of education, regulations on determining the amount of maternity allowance shall apply for the purposes of determining the amount of the doctoral scholarship, provided that the amount of the monthly doctoral scholarship, referred to in Point 4, due on the day of submission of the request for suspension shall be considered a basis for allowance.
  6. The doctoral student who submitted their doctoral dissertation before the date of completing education stipulated in the education program shall receive the doctoral scholarship until the expiry of the education period but for no more than six months.
  7. A doctoral scholarship is not granted to a doctoral student whose education at the Doctoral School involves an obligation to be employed at the University:
    1) under an employment contract;
    2) with a salary that exceeds the salary of a professor.

Amount of the monthly doctoral scholarship

3 600,00 PLN (gross)
up to the month in which the mid-term evaluation was made
5 600,00 PLN (gross)
after the month in which the mid-term evaluation was made

Increased doctoral scholarship

Increased doctoral scholarship in the 2026/2027

Dear PhD Students!
In connection with the publication of Ordinance No. 45/2026 of April 29, 2026 of the Rector of the Medical University of Lodz, amending the Ordinance No. 27/2025 of February 19, 2025 of the Rector of the Medical University of Lodz on the doctoral scholarship for doctoral students pursuing studies at the International Doctoral School and the Doctoral School of Molecular Medicine of the Medical University of Lodz, on behalf of the Directors of Doctoral Schools, we would like to inform you that in the academic year 2026/2027, doctoral students meeting criteria of the Rector’s order, will be able to submit applications for an increased doctoral scholarship.
 
The regulation contains the principles and criteria for awarding an increased scholarship to doctoral students who have outstanding achievements in implementing the educational program and in conducting scientific research.

Provided that all the following requirements are met, an increased doctoral scholarship may be awarded to:

 1) a 2nd-year doctoral student who:

a) submitted the annual reports for the first year of study at the Doctoral School by 30th August;
b) was awarded credits for the courses specified in the curriculum within the set time limit,
c) obtained an average grade of at least 4.5 for credit courses and examinations in the first year of study,
d) is the author of at least one article published or accepted for publishing in a scientific journals specified in the current list announced by the Minister of Science and Higher Education;

2) a 3rd-year doctoral student who:

a) submitted the annual reports for the second year of study at the Doctoral School by 30th August;
b) was awarded credits for the courses specified in the curriculum within the set time limit,
c) obtained an average grade of at least 4.5 for credit courses and examinations in the second year of study,
d) obtained a satisfactory mid-term evaluation result,
e) is the author of at least one article published during the second year of study in an impact factor (IF) journal, included in the list of journals in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) database;


3) a 4th-year doctoral student who:

a) submitted the annual report for the third year of study at the Doctoral School by 30th August,
b) was awarded credits for the courses specified in the curriculum within the set time limit,
c) obtained an average grade of at least 4.5 for credit courses and examinations in the third year of study,
d) is the first author of at least one article published in an impact factor (IF) journal, included in the list of journals in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) database.

Deadlines for submitting documents:
  • November 2-25, 2026 (doctoral students after the first year of study – recruitment 2025/2026)
  • November 23-25, 2025 (doctoral students after the second year of study, recruitment 2024/2025, who will undertake a mid-term evaluation)

Co-financing the scientific and research activities of a supervisor and doctoral student

    of March 21, 2024, Rector of the Medical University of Lodz regarding co-financing the scientific and research activities of a supervisor and doctoral student related to the preparation of a doctoral dissertation at the doctoral school of the Medical University of Lodz, and a special financial allowance for the supervisor in connection with concluding a cotuttele agreement.
