Dear All,

We cordially invite your academic staff, PhD candidates, and students to participate in the 3rd edition of the international scientific conference titled: Ethics by Design: Shaping Secure Innovations.”

This year’s edition will focus on innovations and their role in shaping security.

The conference will be held in English, online (via ClickMeeting) on October 24, 2024. Participation in the conference is free of charge.

Registration as an active participant or listener is available at: https://ethicsbydesign.clickmeeting.com/ethics-by-design-shaping-secure-innovations-24/register

We are accepting abstract submissions from active participants until October 11, 2024.

We encourage participation and sharing your experiences, research, and reflections on ethical research. Suggested thematic areas include:

  • Technological sovereignty
  • Health
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Energy

More information is available on the conference website: https://itech.lukasiewicz.gov.pl/konferencja-ethics-by-design-24/

We offer attendees access to the latest research and trends in the field of technological ethics, security, and formal grant requirements in this area. During the conference, you will learn, among other things:

  • The role of social and ethical aspects,
  • How to effectively describe social and ethical aspects of projects,
  • How to avoid the most common mistakes made in grant applications,
  • How to increase your chances of securing funding.

Why is this important? Ethical aspects are crucial in competitions such as Horizon Europe, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), which announced the MAPS (Multilateral Academic Projects) competition; the Marie Skłodowska-Curie STAFF EXCHANGES Competencies; the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021-2027 Program, and Wellcome Funding. These will also be required by companies that apply their own ethical codes and regularly report on ESG.

The conference is organized by Łukasiewicz — ITECH Institute of Innovation and Technology in Warsaw.

Conference partners include:
Faculty of Philosophy, University of Warsaw,
Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics at the Faculty of Philosophy, Jagiellonian University,
Institute for National and International Security – INIS
