Spring Thematic School 2026 “Decoding the Food–Gut–Cell Axis: Functional Food, Biotechnology and Data-Driven Nutrition”

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the SMM Spring Thematic School 2026, “Decoding the Food–Gut–Cell Axis: Functional Food, Biotechnology and Data-Driven Nutrition”, organized by the Medical University of Lodz and held from 25 to 28 May 2026. The event was inaugurated with a lecture by Prof. Tuomas Kilpeläinen from the University of Copenhagen entitled “Gene-environment interplay in cardiometabolic disease.” The Medical University of Lodz was also honored to host members of the SMM Scientific Council during the Scientific Review Day. During the first day, a public review session of SMM doctoral students took place, providing an opportunity for young researchers to present the results of their studies, scientific achievements, and progress in their ongoing research projects. The session fostered valuable exchanges of experience, inspiring discussions, and highlighted the high quality of research conducted by SMM doctoral candidates. The following days were filled with workshops, lectures, and scientific meetings focused on cutting-edge research in functional food, biotechnology, and nutrition data science. Participants had the opportunity to develop practical laboratory skills, expand their knowledge through lectures delivered by experts from national and international research institutions, and enhance their scientific presentation and communication skills. The Spring Thematic School 2026 concluded on 28 May, leaving participants with new experiences, valuable knowledge, and inspiration for their future scientific development and research activities. We would like to thank all speakers, participants, and organizers for their commitment and for creating an exceptional environment for learning, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas.
